Ang rates chart na ito ay mula sa Editorial Freelancers Association (http://www.the-efa.org/res/rates) kung saan naging miyembro na din ang inyong lingkod nitong nakalipas na dalawang taon. Totoong hindi madaling makipagsabayan sa mga dayuhang manggagawa na kapareho natin ang larangan ng trabaho. I bought a software from http://royal-members.net/. But after paying online, the site only sent me emails containing non-workable steps in downloading what I purchased. The single product that is not even a part of a bundle took 12-15 hours or so of downloading, then nothing.

What's the lesson learned? Verify information, get the real thing, and don't settle for anything less. But while we know what to do many times, we still get fooled, don't we? May this note be a warning to those who would come across the said site (and other similar sites), which seems to represent itself with a number of names (e.g., SoftSupreme, Quality Software, Cheap OEM Software Downloads). The one who responded to my queries called himself 'Steven' and he would only tell you, "repeat the steps." Don't do it anymore. You'll waste your time.

Again, the site, http://royal-members.net/, is a scam. The URL may (and can) change--daily. The new URL for that site is topsoftshop.com, created on 30 May 2011 (details here), affiliated to or owned by someone named Nicosia Cy.

So, please beware...

Around September 2010, I registered at Manta.com and created there an account featuring my work as a freelance editor online. I followed the instruction of 'claiming a company.' But instead of registering in the Philippines, I ended up registering in Texas. That’s my mistake—an embarrassing one. I apologize for that. I’ve requested Manta to help me correct this mistake, but my account remains registered in Texas. I received correspondence from the Manta Team, and twice they mentioned that I could disable my Manta member account:

I stopped tithing in April 2009 and I have since then experienced what it means to say, "I am a child of God." The truth sets us free indeed (John 8:32)!

We’ve read news about innocent Filipinos murdered in other countries, but it seems that no one condemned those countries for the killing of our own. Is that perhaps due to poor media coverage? Maybe. My heart goes out to the victims of the recent hostage taking in our country. But I hurt even more for the Filipinos who needlessly suffer, as a result of a crime they did not even commit.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. (John 8:7)

I watched the one-hour video twice last night. Minutes after that, the video web link had stopped working properly. I. The CHARACTER of God's Word

It is truth!

The EXPERIENCE of salvation

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (2 Timothy 1:9)]

The EXERCISE of our senses to discern right from wrong

Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

¹²For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. ¹³For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. ¹⁴But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:11-14)

The EFFECTIVENESS for prayer

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:7)

The ENABLEMENT for victorious living

Thanking the LORD today for my second year in freelance editing

Freelancing was far from my thoughts the time my day job was about to end on 30 June 2008. But thank God for giving me a nearly 20-day vacation before that date when I had to undergo appendectomy on Philippine Independence Day, 12 June 2008. That pause became an adequate vacation for me, as I prepared for the next threshold of my life. Two years later, I'm still here doing the work that I enjoy doing. But what's the best part of those two years I spent in freelance editing? To me, it's God's faithfulness, undoubtedly.

Thank You LORD for providing not only my needs but also the needs of our family. Thank You for the people who have entrusted me the work of editing their text documents. Thank You for letting me know that the work that I do matter. Thank You for granting me the privilege to give back to our inland revenue, however meager my contribution may be. Thank You for all my editorial colleagues, many of whom I consider my mentors in freelance editing, and for the numerous opportunities You provide for continuous education. Above all, thank You LORD Jesus for being my Ever-Present Help (Psalm 46:1). Indeed, apart from You I can do nothing (John 15:4-5).
